Aa

Self-described as a “never-ending rhythm experiment,” New York noiseniks Aa (Big A Little A) has, in their five-year-long existence, been channeling the bastard child spirit and progressive evolution of This Heat and the Boredoms. Chaotic vocal blasts, a sea of electronics and synths, all fall under the weight of the metric shit ton of percussion on their latest, GAaME, where, yes, the never-ending rhythm experiment is pushed to its limit. Taking the wild-man abandon of the Liars, the dark synth textures of Clipd Beaks, and the post-tribal madness of their fellow N.Y.C.-bedfellows Gang Gang Dance, Aa aren’t afraid of a little adventure, even if it means barreling over a few innocent bystanders on their ascent to the peak of tom-tom mountain.
