The fact that I will be vacationing on the East coastand not at this show with a glass of Basil Haydens bourbon in handis pure rock n roll tragedy (ok, not tragedy, just supremely unfortunate timing). Tonight is the grand finale of A Drink for the Kids, a benefit for the Vera Project, that crucial local institution that nurtures promising young bands and their fans, yet this lushly orchestrated bill is about as adult-oriented as you can get without naked ladies on stage passing out opium pipes. Greg Dulli is one of the best male torch singers alive today, and his sexual charisma alone would be enough reason to sell the joint out. However, the Twilight Singer is hardly solo, and will be backed ably by Jeff Klein, Shawn Smith, Tim Seely, Sera Cahoone, and the supremely talented violinist/vocalist Petra Hayden. Go for the kids, go for me, but just GO.
