See the food in this photo? Looks good, doesn’t it? Five dollars and it’s yours. No, really. Five bucks. Provided you can make it into the Pink Door (1919 Post Alley) during one of its two Happy Hour periods (3pm-5pm or 10pm-close), this lovely shrimp and white bean salad can be yours for the low, low price of just $5.And if shrimp and beans aren’t your thing (for some reason…), the new H-hour menu has some options. There are whole cloves of roasted garlic, gnocchi alla Romana, bacalla con patate (Mmm… fish and potatoes), bruscetta, rigatoni and other Italian plates, all running at $5 a throw. So basically, until Mickey D’s starts selling bacalla Happy Meals, you’re not going to find a deal much better. What’s more, the Pink Door is also offering a lot of the same plates on the lunch menu for just $7. Which means you can show up at 11:30 in the morning, start eating seven-dollar pasta broccoli or tuna salad sandwiches on foccacia, hang out through the post-lunch lull, then start back in again at 3pm with gnocchi and bruscetta at five bucks apiece, wash it all down with a couple glasses of the house red (at $6.75 a glass), and be out the door before the dinner rush having spent less than I do on parking downtown for one afternoon.
