That gum you like is going to come back in style.

Or, well, hey it just did!

Northwest 90s cult television classic Twin Peaks is officially returning to the air in 2016 for a nine episode, Season 3 run on Showtime. Director David Lynch confirmed the announcement on Twitter this morning with the video you see above.

Lynch and show co-creator Mark Frost are currently working on scripts that will revisit the sleepy town of Twin Peaks during present day—25 years after the end of Season 2 in 1991. The passage of time will be an important element of the story according to Frost, who told Variety:

“Those followers of the show who felt bereft when the show ended where it did all those years ago are going to like where it goes from here. And we hope that a lot of people who haven’t been to Twin Peaks yet are going to be equally interested in where the story goes from where we left off.”

As part of the deal, Showtime will rerun seasons 1 and 2 leading up to the new season. Lynch is on board to direct all nine of the new episodes.
