1. Tonight’s Spoke & Food biking and dining event features 20 restaurants in 20 Seattle neighborhoods. Have dinner at any eatery on this list, including Flying Squirrel in Seward Park and Vios in Ravenna, and at least 20 percent of your bill will be donated to local non-profit Bike Works.
2. Seattle-based chef and PCC cooking instructor Erin Coopey’s new title, The Kitchen Pantry Cookbook hits the shelves next month. The book includes almost 100 recipes: 99 percent are gluten-free (a pita chip recipe is the sole exception.) You can sample nosh from the cookbook during a release party on Wednesday, August 7 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at PCC’s West Seattle location. 3. Speaking of forthcoming books from local food folk, forager Langdon Cook’s autumn 2013 Ballatine Books title, The Mushroom Hunters: On the Trail of an Underground America is an Editor’s Pick on Amazon’s Big Fall Books Preview.
4. Josh Henderson’s Hollywood Tavern just got even awesomer: The forthcoming burger and whiskey spot from the man behind Skillet (and soon-to-open Westward/Little Gull on Lake Union) is teaming up with Woodinville Whiskey. The brown liquor purveyor will build a shiny new distillery surrounding Henderson’s renovated tavern. Nosh Pit has the scoop.
