No, despite what Capitol Hill Seattle blog was lead to believe earlier today, Chop Suey is not becoming a Starbucks funded coffeehouse/venue hybrid. Thank God.But, something is up over there. The building has been for sale since August—its already cheap asking price having dropped since it originally went on the market. Recent rumors have posited that the building has been sold to a group from California—which booker Jodi Ecklund was unable to confirm.

However, Ecklund was able to share a new development: “I have been told to cease all booking on 1/20 and to cancel all future bookings after that date. I anticipate that I will be receiving more information in the days to come.”

Whether or not that order means the venue is closing for good or that it is simply being remodeled in some way, shape, or form remains to be seen. We’ll keep you updated as developments come in.
