Anacortes Unknown Music Series Announces Lineup
The spiritual successor to What The Heck Fest, the Anacrotes Unknown Music Series is a celebration of the foggy port town’s bustling DIY music scene and arts community. Between July 18, 19 and 20, wonderful underground bands crawl out from the woodwork and charm the pants off of Anacortes with a slew of shows (some with dinner included) while authors display their wares and talk about their work at a book fair. This year’s lineup looks incredible, with comic book wunderkind Anders Nilsen, Olympia grunge-revivalists Broken Water, the throat singing trance punks of Malaikat Dan Singa, and of course, Anacortes’ own Mount Eerie. You can snag a full three day pass for $55 here. And here’s what that pass will get you into:

Stickers’ No-Wave Goodness Returns In New Track “Outlet”
Seattle’s Stickers have been quiet for a hot minute now—having released a couple of wonderful, shred-tastic singles and a cassette in late 2010/early 2011. In the meantime, drummer Emily Denton has been busy directing everybody’s
music
videos. Now, the band’s mind-melting, sax heavy punk is back—new single “Outlet” came out today, as did news of a long-awaited LP from the group called Swollen, set to drop August 12 on End of Times records. Dissonant and groovy, the song is the most menacing thing you’ll dance to today. Check it out above.
Neighbors Releases 90’s Fab LP Will You Please Be Quiet, Please?
Fronted by Northwest DIY producer extraordinaire Jose Diaz Rohena (Chastity Belt, Weed, Hausu), Neighbors is a shambling, sunshiney group that will transport you back to the days when Pavement reigned supreme and Saturday Night Live was still decent. Will You Please Be Quiet, Please? the band’s debut LP, is packed full of guitar-heavy slacker jams ready for sipping beer on the porch. It couldn’t have come out on a more perfect day (it’s 74 degrees outside). Take a listen above, and check out the band’s record release show tonight at Spin Cycle.
