Awesome suit.SIFF is screening Strange Powers, Kerthy Fix and Gail O’Hara’s documentary

Awesome suit.SIFF is screening Strange Powers, Kerthy Fix and Gail O’Hara’s documentary about the enigmatic Magnetic Fields frontman Stephin Merritt, this upcoming Sunday and Monday (Sunday, 6/6 at 9:30PM and Monday, 6/7 at 4PM). The film mainly focuses on how Merritt is, in the words of author Neil Gaiman, the “meanest, grumpiest, most unpleasant person alive,” and also features live concert footage and appearances by Peter Gabriel and Daniel Handler (Lemony Snicket). Merritt, along with Handler on the accordion and David Hegarty on the organ, will be live-scoring the 1916 film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
