Seattle Family Kite Festival

Festival

Though I’ve probably only heard the phrase “kite enthusiast” used in a sarcastic context, the Model Family Mentorship Program, sponsors of the fifth annual Seattle Family Kite Festival, hope to attract that precise demographic. Whether your interest in kiting is in passing (i.e., letting them pass over) or an ardent hobby, this event promises to be a fun outing and a magnificent backdrop for a picnic, barring the cruelly ironic occurrence of a lightning storm. To be staged, appropriately, on “Kite Hill” at Magnuson Park, activities will include a kite-building booth, stunt kite demonstrations, live music, and children’s kite races. The festival’s aim is to unite and engage families through healthy group activities and promote wellness. Hmm, well then, move over family shock therapy—the Mary Poppins crowd had it right! Grab the kids and go fly a kite (just don’t be that guy who brings the Frisbee to the kite festival).
