Our tribute to the holiday services provided by Seattle’s Best Dive Bars continues with Nite Lite (1926 2nd Ave.).There’s a comforting garishness to the Nite Lite and it’s bad 1950’s furniture. The odd placement of blue, Christmasy type lights twinkling everywhere gives it a surreal quality. But the Nite Lite still manages to escape any comparisons to the circus, 1950’s diner or David Lynch movie. Author Mike Seely says it best, “It’s kind of the perfect combination of everything: kitsch, authenticity, crustiness, greasiness, affordability, inebriation, conversation, professionalism, mischievousness, friendliness, youth, creativity, vigor, honor, loyalty…” They also have darts.
