Calling all photo students! Village Voice Media (Seattle Weekly’s parent company) is recruiting undergraduate photo students for its Fall 2011 Photo Intern Program. By “student,” we do not mean “a student of life.” There’s no cash offered with this gig, only credits. Don’t bother applying if this doesn’t apply to you. Still interested? Read on! Interns work directly with the Art Director and Web Editor. They photograph local restaurants for our online restaurant guide and blogs. They also shoot slideshows on anything from burlesque shows to margarita festivals to water-skiing squirrels. Those interns who pass muster may also be invited to attend cover shoots. In the past, stellar interns have even photographed covers and dishes for our weekly restaurant review. The Art Director will provide critiques on your work, but not lessons on how your camera works. It’s important that our interns have people skills. So if the thought of asking a restaurant manager for permission to take photos of the house special makes you want to crawl back into your cave, this may not be the job for you. Reliable transportation is a must, and we will reimburse for mileage. And sorry, but this party is B.Y.O.E.: Bring Your Own Equipment. To apply, send a resume and links/samples to Kristin no later than Sept. 16. Please include “Fall 2011 Photo Internship” in the subject line.Follow The Daily Weekly on Facebook and Twitter.
