1. Flying Squirrel Pizza Co. is heading to Georgetown, opening as soon as four or five weeks from now. Eater Seattle broke the news yesterday, reporting a mid-May opening for the pizza joint in the former Calamity Jane’s space.

2. Seattle’s own Hot Cakes is up for not one but three sofiTM Awards given by the Specialty Food Association. Autumn Martin’s Smoked Chocolate Chips are nominated in the Outstanding Chocolate category, her S’Mores Kit in the Outstanding Food Gift Pack category, and the Vegan Salted Caramel Sauce in the Outstanding Diet or Lifestyle Product section. Winners will be announced June 30.

3. Details surrounding Elysian Brewing’s new downtown project are coming to light.

Seattle Met is reporting

that the project, called Elysian Bar, is set to open within the next two weeks on Second Avenue between Pike and Pine. Famed cocktail crafter Murray Stenson will work behind the bar on weeknights, and a seasonal lunch and dinner menu is shaping up.

4. Bill Zacharkiw, wine critic for the Montreal Gazette, had some really

nice things to say

about Washington wine, including that the state’s Bordeaux-style blends “were worthy of the reference to the fabled French region.” He didn’t much care for cabernet sauvignons, but we’ll take it.
