Holiday office parties can go any direction. They can be boring. They can be awesome. They can be drunk and disorderly, and lead to stories employees never live down.

Or, as a couple proved over the weekend, they can be downright disastrous, and lead to someone getting run over by a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant.

According to the Seattle Police Department, that’s exactly what happened Saturday night on the west side of Queen Anne Hill.

As Detective Jeff Kapel writes on the SPD Blotter blog: “On December 7th at approximately 11:09 p.m. a married couple attended an office holiday party but decided to leave after they began arguing. At their car, which had been parked at a nearby parking lot in the 2000 block of 15th Avenue West, the argument became heated. The husband decided to exit the vehicle and walk away. He then noticed that his wife was maneuvering their black 2004 Mitsubishi Galant toward him so he sheltered behind a small tree at the edge of the parking lot. His wife drove over the tree, struck him with the car and ran over him. She then sped off down the road.”

According to the Seattle PI, alcohol and cheating may have been involved.

According to police, the 34-year-old husband was transported to Harborview Medical Center with injuries to his face, wrist and leg, “all of which were considered non-life-threatening.” The 24-year-old wife, meanwhile, was stopped by a state trooper near the scene who saw her driving recklessly, and Seattle police quickly arrived to arrest the woman for felony domestic violence assault. She was subsequently booked into King County Jail. According to police, “additional charges may be pending based on further follow up investigation.”
