The main draw to going to see M83’s Sunday afternoon show is seeing if Anthony Gonzales and company could pull off a live performance given that Saturdays=Youth(which might be the most emo album title ever.) is, like the rest of their catalog, grounded in synth guitar and other electronic music-makers. In fact, every instrument save for the drums seems routed through some kind of computer, which works fine for tracks like “Teen Angst” which with have no ambition other than to crescendo and be beautiful, but the kids in the crowd seemed to want to dance, not just marvel at the sound. As did, apparently, the band’s keyboardist who began gyrating across the stage as the band finally delivered a dance-friendly track, the infectious “Coulers.” Not a moment too soon.
