Lease signed? Check. Liquor license filed? Check. Staff hired, pantry stocked, menus

Lease signed? Check. Liquor license filed? Check. Staff hired, pantry stocked, menus tested? Check, check and check. Now all that’s left to do is to set up a Facebook page…Things in the restaurant world really have changed dramatically in the last ten years, but nothing has had quite the marked effect as the idea of social networking. Where a Facebok page, a Twitter feed (and even, in some cases, a website) used to be an afterthought–something that a new owner would get around to eventually, once all the other million complications of opening a new restaurant had been taken care of, it is now an integral part of any new house’s launch. Thus, the Blue Glass lit up its Facebook page recently, and its very first post was to announce an opening date–scheduled for Thursday, December 2nd at 5pm in the former home of the Tiger Tail at 704 NW 65th.Blue Glass front door with construction just about finishedRight now, there’s not much more information than that. There’s going to be an open house on Wednesday, December 1, from 5pm-9pm where the Blue Glass will introduce itself to its new neighborhood with free apps and a cash bar, then the official opening the next night. The food is being described as “Global comfort food” with “local and artisanal ingredients used when possible, of course.”Right now, everyone seems to be scrambling to get the place ready for the big reveal. The latest update (which literally came in while I was writing this post) says so: “it’s monday morning and the days are closing in. looks like wednesday could turn into quite a gathering, so be sure to stop by for our official opening thursday, mas, earl and brent are busy getting our menu dialed in and the food looks fabulous. i will post the latest photos a bit later today.”I’ll be checking back in later to see how those pictures look. Of course, what I’d really like to see is a menu but, as of right now, the Blue Glass website isn’t much more than a construction zone.
