You don’t need Bill and Ted to tell you that the air guitar is one of life’s greatest guilty pleasures. While most do it in the privacy of their own home, with the stereo pumping their favorite guitar-rific track, be it a cheesy ’80s metal ballad, AC/DC, or “Stairway to Heaven,” some have mastered their technique and will without hesitation show off their soloing skills on their non-present Gibson’s—especially if the title of “Air Master” is at stake. Tonight at the Funhouse, hopeful contestants will square off and shred the air to their favorite jams (in front of celebrity rocker judges Mick Bane and Tim Fantastic) in a single-elimination qualifying round before twelve finalists move on. Song difficulty, accuracy, attire, and visual presentation will determine who has the makings of an air guitar rock god and who doesn’t.
