1. Hot Cakes is celebrating National S’mores Day (which falls on August 10) starting today through Sunday. The Ballard shop will serve special items like s’more cookies, milkshake, and s’mores molten cake all weekend, plus classic s’mores assembled from homemade graham crackers, marshmallows, and cold-smoked chocolate. On Sunday, they’ll be roasting marshmallows on the grill outside the shop.

2. Bellevue is gearing up for its Taste of Main next Saturday. The event features wineries, breweries, and distilleries, plus bites from local restaurants, with proceeds benefitting the Boys and Girls Club of Bellevue. Tickets are available online.

3. Jibe Espresso Bar, a new coffee shop at Shilshole Bay Marina, is opening this Saturday, reports My Ballard. The shop will be handing out free samples of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, and Executive Chef Rachel Moore and roaster Keith Miller will be on hand.

4. Stumptown has teamed up with Bon Appetit Magazine with a “How to Brew Coffee” video series; you’ll find handy videos for brewing on a French Press, Chemex, and more.
