Like most good things, this story begins with burritos. The owners of this dive moved to Seattle in 1991 from San Francisco. Realizing the Emerald City didn’t offer the mission-style burritos they were used to, they scraped together enough dough to open their dream business in 2005 in Phinney Ridge. Later they opened three more locations, including the beloved West Seattle spot. And who doesn’t like guacamole, sour cream, shredded meet, beans, and rice when they’re drinking in a warm and welcoming dive? 2620 Alki Ave. S.W., 933-7344
First runner-up: Twilight Exit
Second runner-up: Montana
Honorable mention: Baranof, The Smokeshop
