Seattle is a brighter place when there’s more TacocaT in our lives. The veteran Seattle rock band has been delivering catchy musical bliss for over a decade while putting on some of the funnest live shows around. It’s been three years since the group released new material (2016’s Lost Time), but now TacocaT is ready to unleash a fresh batch of tunes on the world. After putting out its previous two LPs on the superb Sub Pop subsidiary label Hardly Art, the band’s new 10-track album This Mess Is a Place will come out on Sub Pop proper on May 3.

To spread the love this Valentine’s Day, the band released the first This Mess Is a Place single, “Grain of Salt.” The song spreads a message of being true to yourself instead of caring what everybody else thinks, while boasting a much a stronger jangly dance-rock feel than much of the band’s pop punk past. To match the sorta-DIY-disco vibe for the music video, TacocaT called upon its friends from the Seattle drag scene—Cherdonna Shinatra, Connie Merlot, Beau Degas, Dion Dior Black, Umlaut, Mermosa, Irene Dubois, and Cucci Binaca—to make a colorful dance party.

TacocaT also revealed its summer tour dates, which include a stop at The Showbox on June 8. Tickets will be $17 and go on sale this Friday (February 15) at 10 a.m. via axs.com.
