University Village is about to boom with something else other than babies. Boom Noodle is expected to open in the old Atlas spot July 5. As Jason Sheehan reported last month, that’s only four days later than their original goal.Boom’s co-founder, Steve Rosen, says assuming all is well and their POS systems are working, Boom should be serving dinner by 5pm on the 5th. They’ll also be serving breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30am until noon.”Since Atlas left, there really isn’t a compelling breakfast in the village, so we’re going to push hard to re-establish that,” says Rosen. “Our goal with breakfast is to not get too crazy with trying to Westernize an Eastern breakfast, but instead, Easternize a Western breakfast a bit. So, we’ll have Benedicts, omelettes, French toast, pancakes, etc., but we’ll be a bit playful with them.”The other cool part of the new Boom? “Inside of Boom, with a walk-up window to the outside, we will be opening our first ever Japanese crepe stand. Super fun. Like the shops in Tokyo, people can walk up and order sweet or savory crepes. In addition, we will sell them in Boom, and they will also be on the breakfast menu (only not served in a cone).”Tokyo Sweets doesn’t have a website yet, but you can follow them on Facebook for updates about the new shop. One last thing about the new Boom – there will be double the outdoor dining. “We will have outdoor dining on the south bar-side of the building and outdoor dining on the side facing Barnes and Noble,” says Rosen. “We’ve also stepped up our game a bit on the beer and cocktail front.”Happy Hour will be 3-6pm and 9pm to close in the bar and all night long on Thursdays.
