Based on data like gas prices, overcrowdedness, time spent in traffic and adverse weather, NerdWallet.com compiled a list of the top 10 worst cities for car drivers.
To the surprise of no one, Seattle made the list at #6, nestled in between Washington D.C. and Boston:
1) New York City
2) Detroit
3) San Francisco
4) Chicago
5) Washington D.C.
6) Seattle
7) Boston
8) Miami
9) Honolulu
10) Oakland
The ranking comes after a spat of some of the gnarliest Seattle traffic the city has seen in a long time.
First, an expansion joint came undone on I-5 in late May, bringing the city to a standstill.
Then last week, a crash on 99 ushered in 5 hours of gridlock that was so bad, a man started handing out free Dick’s hamburgers as an act of mercy to passing motorists.
And then of course, two days ago a man on I-5 parked his car (which later caught fire) in the middle two lanes of the highway before being fatally shot by police.
