I forgot to mention this in my earlier post, but it’s worth mentioning in its own post anyway, because the Decibel Festival brings some really great global electronica artists to our fair city, and they need funds to recreate that four-day magic again this year. I just received an e-mail from the festival organizers stating that the festival is in serious financial trouble and may need to cancel this year if they’re unable to raise the necessary cash. So, for all you people out there who are still employed (no excuses: I know you just got that fat tax return), consider heading to the Triple Door tonight to hear some fascinating, high-quality electronic music. I encourage you all to check out Portlander Rena Jones (pictured), who melds strings, woodwinds, Rhodes and synth into some really fascinating compositions; Jones actually reminds me of Talkdemonic just a titch. Fellow quality electronicists Helios, Lusine and Kelly Wyse are also performing. Anyway, $25 gets you in; $50 gets you a show and a full meal. All proceeds benefit the 2009 Decibel Festival. If you’re not doing anything tonight, consider checking it out. Without the Decibel Festival, our scene would be much less diverse. And this line-up is a good one: even if you don’t regularly listen to electronic music, all the artists on the bill tonight have definite crossover appeal.
