1. Two dozen restaurants are taking part in Feast at the Market on October 1. The self-guided taste tour at Pike Place Market lasts from 5:30 to 10:00 pm and includes bites from Seatown and Marche. All proceeds benefit Neighborcare Health’s Pike Market Medical Clinic. Click here for more info.
2. Bitters are one of many hot trends in the cocktail world. For $10 you can learn to make your own at a bitters workshop September 24th at the Barrel Thief from 7 to 8:30. The fee includes 4-oz. bottle of bitters, including the base alcohol, a wide variety of bittering and flavoring agents, an infusion jar, and an eyedropper dispensing bottle. 3. Coming to Ballard early next year: new gastropub “Brunswick & Hunt” from Barry Rogel (Deluxe Bar & Grill in Capitol Hill) and Scott Rogel (The Athenian in Pike Place Market). The 49-seat “farm-to-neighborhood” restaurant will be housed in the newly-restored, hisotric W.E. Hunt building on 70th and 15th. Chef Jeffrey Davidson (Ray’s Boathouse, Bastille Cafe & Bar, and Pop-Up Mo’Fun) will be whipping up the seasonal-centered food.
4. Mollie Katzen of Moosewood Cookbook fame will discuss and sign her new book: The Heart of the Plate: Vegetarian Recipes for a New Generation at the Book Larder on September 26th and at Bastyr University on September 27th.
