1) SEATTLE MAYOR’S RACE:

Last night, a thoroughly trounced Mike McGinn walked into 95 Slide to admit defeat to his better butter candidate, Ed Murray, who ousted the incumbent by a 13 percent margin. The mayoral candidates set their parties up two blocks from one another, with Murray a hop skip and a jump away at Neumos, to further intensify the high school homecoming king drama.

Murray supporters (pictured above) paraded by 95 Slide on their way to Neumos 10 minutes before results came in, chanting Murray’s name in the direction of McGinn’s fortress of sadness. That night in an absolutely packed Neumos, the DJ played a remix mashup of Rihanna’s “We Found Love” with Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” Meanwhile, McGinn’s party was silent, save for the quiet sound of supporters patting one another on the back in condolence.

2) I-522 GMO LABELING

Washington has voted to keep the true nature of its food a mystery, overturning the iniative to label genetically modified products by almost a 10 percent margin. Despite their victory, the No on 522 campaign party remained eerily empty.

3) I-517 INIATIVE AND REFERENDUM MEASURES

Taking a cue from Hamlet’s “brevity is the the soul of wit” line, the Yes on I-517 campaign sent this out as its complete official statement:

4) SEATAC PROP 1 AIRPORT WORKER MINIMUM WAGE

The fight to raise SeaTac airport worker minimum wage to $15 and hour was a big success, winning by 7 points so far. What effect it will have as a bellwether for similar efforts in the fast food industry remains to be seen, but the official statement from the Yes on Prop 1 camp seems to be hopeful:The last year of public demonstrations illustrates that there are millions of others like them in fast food restaurants and big box stores all over the country who work full-time, overtime, even two jobs, and cannot make ends meet. Voters in SeaTac said clearly that if you work hard for a living, you should have the opportunity to make a living.

5) SCHOOL BOARD DISTRICT 4

Former Seattle Weekly arts writer Sue Peters won the hotly contested race for the school board, despite Dale Estey’s $104,000 campaign fund compared to Peters $28,000.

6) COMISSIONER POSITION 1

In the only Port Comission seat race of any real interest, incumbent John Creighton defeated his challenger, Mayor of Auburn Pete Lewis, despite Lewis’ endorsement from the Seattle Times and accusations that Creighton harassed and stalked his ex-girlfriend. Every Port Comissioner seat up for grabs went to the incumbent, cementing the fact that the race is the most boring thing in the world.

7) COUNCIL POSITION 8

Aaaaaand O’Brien thoroughly defeats Shen.
