1. Slate Coffee Roasters is serving free brewed coffee at a downtown holiday pop-up inside Alki Arts Gallery at Harbor Steps. Local businesses featured at the event include Blackbird, Fantagraphics and Ladies & Gentlemen Studio. Stop in between 10:00 am and 7:00 pm Sunday through Thursday (and till 8:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays) from now through December 23. Click here for details about hours and vendors.
2. Speaking of coffee, Tony’s is now open from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The coffee bar and espresso training center hosts free public cuppings every Saturday at noon.
3. The annual Tom Douglas Cookbook Social happens tomorrow from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Palace Ballroom. A slew of area cookbook authors, including Gluten Free Girl’s Shauna James Ahern and Lark’s John Sundstrom will be on hand to serve tastes from recipes found in their collections. Tickets are available online and include a glass of beer or wine.
4. Bar Cotto celebrates the 80th anniversary of Repeal Day on Thursday. From 10:00 pm to 2:00 am, the Capitol Hill bar that shares a row of windows with Anchovies & Olives will serve $9 prohibition-era cocktails, $8 punch and happy hour eats till the kitchen closes at 1:00 am.
