Need something to do in between weekends of seeing ZZ Top and Tony Hawk’s Boom Boom HuckJam? Sandwiched in the middle of those two drastically different concerts is another unusual bill. Headlining the showcase is Redbone, an act that gained commercial success in 1974 for the song “Come And Get Your Love.” That song has been re-recorded by such artists as Earth, Wind and Fire, and in 1995, the German dance group Real McCoy, which crapped it all up with a popped collar version. Janice Marie Johnson, a Mohican artist, gained success with Grammy award winning group A Taste of Honey and their smash hit “Boogie Oogie Oogie.” Aside from that sweet disco jive, she has also collaborated with such artists as Ice Cube and Positive K on “I Got A Man,” and her music can be heard on commercials for Burger King and Rold Gold Pretzels. Also performing is Stevie Ray Vaughan- I mean Indigenous. The bluesy wah-wah twang coupled with the Kermity voice makes Indigenous a dead ringer for Stevie Ray, but unfortunately, lacks the hat that made Stevie famous. This showcase should be perfect for those who still pine at the chance to see Stevie Ray on stage, mingled betwixt long dormant soul acts. Your chance to see it is after the last beard hairs are swept off the stage following ZZ Top and before the half-pipe is set up for the Boom Boom HuckJam.
