How does a DJ battle him/herself on a mix? Easily, if its Chicago producer Curtis Jones, whose Green Velvet alter ego was so strong (green Mohawk and all), it needed to create its own label to differentiate itself from Jones 1990s house productions as Cajmere. Last years Cajmere vs. Green Velvet Sessions, on Ministry of Sound, is a meeting of Jones dual minds and may be one of the most fun compilations from one of the most humorous producers ever. Its not only that its littered with his own recent tracks, but its also matched with bygone classics (Brighter Days) and modern ones like Put Your Hands Up for Detroit (on Green Velvets tougher, funkier CD). Seriously, throw this shit on at your next party and see what happens. Or show up tonightearly, for openers Nordic Soul vs. Recess and a live set from Red Pony, who are all impressing the scene as of lateto shake and pop til you drop. With Nordic Soul vs. Recess, Red Pony, and Scott Lonheim with visuals by Tracer.
