Corn, ‘Shrooms, and Sunset Supper

Sweet corn is hitting all six neighborhood farmers markets with a vengeance this week. In other news, local hens finally got the memo last week and put the production of eggs into high gear to meet marketgoers’ demands. Wild morel, chanterelle, matsutake, and porcini mushrooms are in fine supply at all markets, just in time to liven up pizzas, fresh summer salads, and pasta dishes. Berries continue to run rampant along with apricots, peaches, and plums, all of which have been harvested ripe to guarantee excellent sugar content. Also, tickets for the 10th annual Sunset Supper at the Market, which will be held Friday, Aug. 12, have gone on sale. Ticket proceeds support the Market Foundation and human-service agencies at the Market.
