Capitol Hill’s Smith is championing the movement to prove that beer is for more than pairing with peanuts and pizza, and can provide just as many complex and interesting flavor combinations as wine can. To see if you agree, check out their Winter Beer Dinner, hosted by chef Eliot Guthrie and Mike Baker, co-owner of local importer Pacific Beverage and one of the founders of Georgetown’s Baron Brewing. Baker will be on hand to discuss all things beery, while guests dine on Guthrie’s four-course menu, including items such as beer-braised beef cheeks paired with six different beers (including Bavarian and Belgian ales). Smith, 332 15th Ave. E., 709-1900, smithseattle.com. $40. Mon., Feb 23.For more food-related events, wine (and beer) dinners, and classes, check the Food Events Calendar.
