Pat Davis, the controversy-embroiled Port Commissioner whose missteps and questionable dealings (for example, inviting the WTO to Seattle without notifying the city, or seemingly unilaterally trying to hook up retired Port CEO Mic Dinsmore with an extra year of salary) are documented in this profile by Aimee Curl, will not be recalled. Chris Clifford, the high school teacher leading the recall effort, said he wasn’t able to collect the nearly 150,000 signatures he’d need by today to get a recall on the ballot. He’d previously won a state Supreme Court case to get the right to go forward with the recall. But Davis plans to step down at the end of the year, which Clifford concedes took some of the wind out of the recall’s sails.
