At long last, Whalebones’ debut full-length has finally been released, and it turns out it was worth the wait–the self-titled record is a collection of hearty tunes that meld nostalgic, full-blooded Americana and surly psych rock (and it includes SW’s Best Single of 2011, “I Don’t Wanna Live in the City No More”). Tonight, Whalebones is celebrating the album’s release at their Mural Amphitheater show with My Goodness and Black Mountain–the weather’s supposed to be great, and the show is free, so you have no excuse for missing it, unless you’re like me and going to Weezer–and it’d be nice to give the new record a listen before hearing it performed live. Ergo, we suggest downloading Whalebones via Bandcamp for $10. The band will also have it available for purchase at the show tonight on CD and vinyl. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
