Broken Disco 2.2 Gone Fishin' with Mochipet, Lusine, Codebase, Recess, Dr. Mr. M'Chateau, the Googly, Jake J., visuals by KIlling Frenzy

As Mochipet, Daly City, Cali's David Y. Wang is a man who wears a purple dinosaur costume on stage, and cranks out his experimental dance music with undeniable passion. Having worked with artists like Spank Rock and Ellen Allien, he's now releasing an album of highly uncategorizable-but-let's-call-it-hip-hop on his own label. And tonight he's joining local artist Lusine, crafter of gorgeous ambient glitch, for Broken Disco's farewell-til-fall soiree. Starting as a collaboration between four ambitious promoters last April, the consistently banging party has never been afraid of odd lineups, opening minds in the process of loosening limbs. Take it from a temporary Central European resident who's tired of hearing Haddaway passed off as techno in the clubs: not every major city has such an exacting finger on dance music's pulse. Seattle's scene is one to be treasured. Whoop it up, and support BD-associated productions until their summer siesta is over. With Mochipet, Lusine, Codebase, Recess, Dr. Mr. M'Chateau, the Googly Jake J. visuals by Killing Frenzy. Chop Suey, 1325 E. Madison St., 324-8000. 9 p.m. $10 adv./$12. 9 p.m. $10 adv./$12. Electric Avenue

A dance weekly survives its first year

Capitol Hill Arts Center free Every week Friday, 10:00pm

In the dance-music community, venues change and weeklies come and go, and the rare few—like the Saturday night drum and bass party Onset, in Pioneer Square—last a whole year, let alone Onset’s six. So kudos to the one-year anniversary of United House Front and CHAC’s Electric Avenue! Aping Green Velvet’s all-encompassing motto, “We like Electro. We like Retro. We like Ghetto. House. And Techno,” they’ve exemplified a musical open mind in their bookings. And also some street smarts: for every special booking—like Miami bass/breakbeat DJ and tonight’s headliner Deekline—that costs five or ten bucks, the other three bookings each month are both free and solid, with locals like Charlie B., Jizosh, Swank, and Sun Tzu Sound on the roster. CHAC’s Lower Level is also one of the more comfortable rooms to let loose in, and its walls aren’t being painted white (Hi, Baltic Room) anytime soon. Capitol Hill Arts Center, Lower Level, 1621 12th Ave., 388 - 0521. $10. 10 p.m. RACHEL SHIMP

Fridays with Riz from KEXP

Are you superstitious? Then stick with the usual M.O. for Friday the 13th, like being wary of ladders, black cats, shattered mirrors, kindly loan officers, etc. One thing you shouldn’t be afraid of, though, is dancing, and I can’t think of a better place to spend this particular Friday than at Re-Bar with DJ Riz (also of KEXP’s long-running show Expansions). Why? Not only has he commandeered the club’s Fridays since forever, and won Best DJ in SW’s readers’ poll numerous times, but the scene on this night is never dull. Riz plays deep, funky house but throws in whatever else he feels like, unconstrained by a ruling vibe. And Riz’s followers are passionate and varied. You’ll notice the same people doing their same weird dances week after week, each seemingly locked into their own groovy universe. That kind of reliable abandon is such an unusual clubland sight, every Friday there feels a little bit freaky.
